My interview for Forbes Life.

1. Cât este de importantă prima impresie în activitatea ta de zi cu zi (în coaching)?
O primă“impresie bună” ajută întotdeauna. Avem tendința de a ne conecta mai ușor cu cei din jur dacă afișăm un aer cât se poate de prietenos, iar oamenii, în general, au tendința de a se înconjura de semenii cu care rezonează. Însa, pentru a face o primă impresie bună, este nevoie de multă muncă și de perseverență, care se vor reflecta în timp în calitatea rețelei de oameni cu care ai reușit să te inconjori.

2. Care ar fi stilul pe care îl aboderzi zi de zi: casual, business, sport-casual? Ai un stil personal?
Obișnuiam să abordez un stil business din cap până în picioare: clasicul costum în douăsau trei piese și, obligatoriu, cravata. Acum prefer mai mult stilul sport-casual, pe care îl integrez fără probleme în activitățile mele zilnice, de business.

3. Ești la curent cu ultimele tendințe în modă? Îți place săfaci shopping (de haine, bineînțele)?
Îmi place să fiu la curent cu ultimele tendințe în mai toate domeniile însa, când vine vorba de fashion, Maria este stilistul meu… personal. :)
Am câteva branduri preferate și de mare încredere, printre care și Tommy Hilfiger, și asta face shoppingul mult mai ușor pentru o persoană ca mine.

4. Cum îți place “să pierzi timpul”?
Îmi găsesc refugiul în filme, întotdeauna a fost așa. Îmi place să citesc o carte bună iar uneori, atunci când călătoresc, îmi place să măuit cu atenție la oamenii din jurul meu. Sunt fascinat de oameni, de culturi și de diferențele culturale dintre noi toți și de accea cred că am dezvoltat și un simț al observației mai…“aparte” atunci când vine vorba de semenii noștri.

5. De ce ai nevoie pentru a fi un coach de success?
Cred că este vorba de un mix. Un mix de experiență, răbdare, abilitatea de a fi un bun ascultător și, în mod special, cred că trebuie sa fii pasionat de oameni, să îți pese de ei. Cu timpul, și cu un training susținut, un coach de success devine un expert în a alege (a pune) întrebările corecte, pentru cădespre asta este vorba în coaching: să pui întrebările potrivite și nu să le spui clientilor tăi ce trebuie să facă.

6. Este coaching-ul o necesitate, un trend sau este doar un concept “la modă”?
Foarte bună întrebarea. În ultimul timp sunt mulți cei care se autointitulează “coach” și astfel poți fi tentat să spui că este un “trend”. Mentoring-ul, spre exemplu, este vechi de când lumea însă coaching-ul este un concept diferit de cel de mentoring.
Oricine își dorește să devinăun leader mai bun sau doar să devină mai bun in ceea ce face, are nevoie de o persoană obiectivă care să observe, din afară, și să vadă acele “unghiuri moarte”. Abia în momentul în care realizezi care sunt problemele sau “greșelile” tale, începi să crești și să te dezvolți ca persoană. Dacă dezvoltarea personală este o prioritate pentru tine, atunci nici nu prea contează dacă vorbim despre coaching ca trend sau nu. Le spun mereu clienților mei că, pentru a putea înțelege adevarata putere a coaching-ului, trebuie să lucrezi cu un coach adevarat.

7. Este coaching-ul o meserie care poate fi invățată sau este mai mult un talent cu care te naști?
Pentru a fi un coach de succes ai nevoie de calitățile pe care le-am enumerat mai sus și, este extrem de important de știut că, atunci când vorbim de coaching, lumina reflectorului nu cade pe coach… ci pe clientul său. Asemeni unui antrenor de box, nu faci decât săîți antrenezi “sportivul” și acesta este cel care are parte de momenul de glorie, nu tu ca și coach.
Daca îți dorești să te afli în lumina reflectoarelor, atunci nu vei deveni niciodatăun coach de success. Si mai cred că, pentru a avea succes, trebuie să fii, în primul și în primul rând, umil; contează mai puțin cât de “talentat” te-ai născut!

We’ve discussed how to connect, be authentic and through my personal story in Africa as presented in my TEDx talk, the audience was able to realize that maintaining a network of colleagues, friends and family can represent an essential skill in one’s career.

On November 2nd, 2018, I’ve spent a great time with the friendly team at IBM in conjunction with their EduThink by Marketing Services Center – IBM where I delivered a keynote on Networking internally.
Master the art of Internal Networking in an experiential workshop consisting of several steps, as well as tips on how to become a better internal networker.
In many cases professional managers fail to see how being connected within one’s organization can fetch massive benefits.
Why? Well because the common denominators you share with members of your organization can make building rapport a breeze, but only if you can skillfully squeeze in a moment with the right person at the right time. The investment is well worth the effort!

Paul Renaud @ NRCC CEO DINNER, 27th of September 2018

I’m happy to report that I’ll be the moderator for the NRCC CEO Dinner on 27th of September 2018.
This annual, invitation-based only event is organized exclusively for NRCC’s largest members and Corporate Patron Members, the CEOs and their spouses. It’s the 5th edition, so it will be a small jubilee!

With 65 Corporate Patrons it’s a dynamic group of people sharing largely the same interests and more importantly, spouses are invited!
A gathering with your peers, an evening of socializing, good food and special entertainment in a truly unique atmosphere.

This year the organizers have selected Domeniul Manasia (Manasia – Urziceni) as a unique location with a fascinating history.

Having spoken at TEDxBucharest 3 years ago, last year I had the pleasure introducing the speakers and the whole WOW experience, of the awesome TEDxBucharest phenomenon.
On November 22, 2017 I was the UNCOMMON facilitator for TEDxBucharest 2017 – Uncommon Sense.

Paul Renaud @ ICF Converge17, Washington, DC

What a rush that was! Last month I was honored to be invited as Speaker to the International Coach Federation (ICF) Global Conference, ICF Converge17, in Washington, DC. Networking was the key driver to getting me on the list.

To put the 3-day event in numbers, there were: 1600 attendees, 62 countries represented 60 speakers & 72 presentations.
I walked away with a humbling experience since many peers have been coaching for 15 years or longer.

And because the conference promoted Networking as a key area, I really believe coaches were able to relate to a Canadian Coach with a tongue-in-cheek approach to this ‘Networking’ thing. They’ve told me Networking can in fact help in getting new clients; to become more altruistic in the process and by practicing on me what they’ve learned in the workshop they got a free Audible.com download of A Networking Book – the Law of Abundance in action!
My ICF Converge17 peers are now Masters of Networking, walking away with some takeaways, methods and examples that have worked for me.
When we network and meet new people, we also learn.

So yes, THAT was a rush indeed! I made new friends and they’re on a mission to make Networking WORK for them. Thank you ICF and well done fellow ‘Rock Star ICF Coaches!’
